Five-term state Rep. Peter Petrarca, a champion of the auto body repair industry in the Legislature, lost the Democratic primary to businessman Gregory Constantino. Constantino won 60 percent of the vote.
Petrarca's father and sister own an auto body repair business and have been extremely active on auto body repair issues. Petrarca, a lawyer, indicated that he will not seek elective office again but plans to become a lobbyist. His electoral loss will be a setback for the auto body industry.
