Sen. Stewart Greenleaf’s SB 1131 was introduced this week, passed out of committee, and is now on the Senate floor. The measure somewhat mirrors the tort reform package NAMIC members favored in SB 2 (Corman), although SB 1131 adds two provisions that limit the reform and leave it somewhat useless – the bill creates exceptions to tort reform in the cases of economic damages and where a minor is a beneficiary.
