In Iowa, when disaster hits, the community pulls together. Unfortunately, some prey on the vulnerable at this critical time. Unscrupulous persons, often from out of state, pop in and take advantage of those most in need, especially senior citizens. They engage in high-pressure pitches in order to scare people into signing a contract. Current law allows these “storm chasers” to hound consumers for unneeded “repairs” even after the claim is denied.
