On Wednesday, June 22, 2011, the House Committee on Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing titled “Protecting Medicare with Improvements to the Secondary Payer Regime.” The Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) system was created to that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is reimbursed for health care services which insurers and others may have primary responsibility for payment.
