We are not three months into the new legislative year in the states, and already several new governors have suddenly found themselves in the middle of some high-profile, volatile situations. Of course, we all know what’s going on in Wisconsin between the new governor, Scott Walker, and the state’s government unions and the issue of collective bargaining. This is not an isolated incident, either, as the turmoil in the Badger State can also be found in other states where Republicans have taken over the governor’s office and legislature. Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, both new to the job, are also being challenged for their desire to end collective bargaining for state employees.
