National Flood Program Extended Temporarily After Brief Lapse

Just before they left for the holidays, members of the House made the unusual move of passing two separate extensions of the National Flood Insurance Program in the defense spending bill. The main provision extended the program for two months, and a second, shorter extension was included as a fallback measure the Senate could approve separately to keep the program running while they debated defense spending.
