Minnesota: Senate Votes to Reject Bill to Ban Credit-based Insurance Scoring

The Minnesota Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee voted 5-4 last Tuesday to defeat Senate File 263, which would have banned the use of credit-based insurance scores as an underwriting tool. Voting in favor of the bill were Sens. Mary Olson, the sponsor; Linda Scheid; John Marty; and Kevin Dahle. Voting against the bill were Sens. Chris Gerlach, Ray Vandeveer, Dan Sparks, James Metzen, and Dan Skogen, a bi-partisan grouping.
