New York: Mere Non-occupancy Insufficient Grounds for Mid-term Cancellation, DOI Says

The New York Insurance Department recently issued a circular letter to all companies writing homeowners insurance in the state, asserting that it is impermissible to cancel a homeowner’s insurance policy in the middle of the policy period based solely on the fact that the covered residence is not occupied.
