Florida: Credit Scoring Saga Continues

Credit scoring methodologies are no longer exempt as trade secrets from Florida's public records law as of Oct. 2. The statute that had provided for such an exemption was allowed to sunset. An informational memorandum from Commissioner Kevin McCarty explicitly states his intention to make public credit-based insurance scoring models filed with the Office of Insurance Regulation after Oct. 2 as a result of the sunset.
