Maryland: Offer of Coverage Notification Bill Effective Oct. 1

A reminder to property/casualty carriers with lines in Maryland: HB 405 becomes effective in a little more than a month.

The measure, signed by Gov. Martin O’Malley on April 8, clarifies how an offer of coverage may be communicated by an insurer. New provisions of the law will allow for telephone and Internet communication as companions to the existing section for written notification.
