NAIC Will Allow Municipal Bond Ratings to be Severed From Bond Insurer Downgrade

Municipal bonds insured by “monoline” insurers that have suffered from reverses from the subprime debt meltdown need not take the ratings plunge their guarantors have taken, the NAIC decided Sunday during the NAIC summer meeting.
