Senate Approves Significant Flood Reform Legislation Without Wind Provision

Legislation passed by the U.S. Senate last week to extend and reform the National Flood Insurance Program will go a long way toward alleviating some of the concerns of insurers and residents in flood-prone areas. Despite efforts to add wind to the NFIP, the Senate ultimately passed the legislation without that amendment. The trick now will be to persuade members of the House to abandon its previously passed wind provision.
