The National Flood Insurance Program is on a legislative path to be extended beyond its Sept. 30 expiration with needed reforms for the program. Action by the U.S. Senate last week all but assured members would finalize legislation in that chamber. With Senate action expected today, both the Senate and House would add significant reforms to the program. All that is left to do is to reconcile the bills passed in each chamber and ensure that windstorm coverage is not included in the final measure. While the House-passed measure includes the wind provision, we believe there is little actual support for it among House members.
