The trial bar is at it again, with legislation that could raise the cost of doing business for insurance companies and others. The latest effort is a bill that would make it harder for companies to enter into confidentiality agreements to settle lawsuits. The legislation, H.R. 5884, was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives late last week by Democratic Reps. Robert Wexler of Florida and Jerrold Nadler of New York, and is a companion bill to a measure - S. 2449 - recently passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
