Catastrophe Insurance Working Group Continues to Dither over White Paper

By Bob Detlefsen, NAMIC Vice President - Public Policy

The Catastrophe Insurance (C) Working Group met on March 29, principally to discuss its white paper, "Natural Catastrophe Risk: Creating a Comprehensive National Plan." Those with long memories will recall that the group began drafting this paper shortly after the 2005 hurricane season. Since then, the white paper has been subjected to the usual episodic, desultory editing process that is the hallmark of NAIC white papers. It has essentially laid dormant since the last iteration was exposed in August 2007.
