Georgia: Amended Bill on Commercial Vehicles in GEICS Database Passes House

As reported in last week’s Advocacy Update, insurance industry lobbyists on the ground in Georgia successfully lobbied for an amendment to HB 1235, which, in its original form, eliminated the fleet exception to the GEICS database for reporting motor vehicle liability coverage to the state.

The amended legislation passed the full House on March 11. It now would make the law enforcement agency or political subdivision that improperly tows or impounds a vehicle with a valid fleet card responsible for the costs associated with its actions.
