Michigan: Governor Creates New Insurance Advocate

According to the Michigan Insurance Coalition, a NAMIC state advocacy partner, Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm signed an executive order Friday creating the Automobile and Home Insurance Consumer Advocate in the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation. Although housed in the insurance department, the consumer advocate will be independent of the insurance commissioner.
