NAMIC's state advocacy partner, the Personal Insurance Federation of California, has submitted a letter of support for AB 998 Motor Vehicle Thefts to the Assembly Public Safety Committee. The bill would increase criminal sanctions for repeat motor vehicle theft offenders by making a second motor vehicle theft a felony. The bill would also increase prison sentences for persons who are convicted of stealing ambulances, police cars, or a vehicle owned by handicapped individual.
