Acrimony and accusations between the legislative and executive branches prevail in Illinois, but the Legislature and Gov. Rod Blagojevich agreed to pass a 30-day budget last week. Yet, according to NAMIC’s state trade partner, the Illinois Insurance Association, there appears to be little future agreement on a budget for 2008. The Legislature was supposed to have passed a budget for 2008 and adjourn no later than May 31.
After passing the stopgap budget, the Legislature adjourned until after the July 4 holiday week.
