Washington, D.C.: Texas CCP Contingent Meets with Cornyn

Representatives of NAMIC member companies in Texas took to Capitol Hill last week, as participants in the Congressional Contact Program.

In addition to speaking with congressional staff members for several legislators, the Texas CCP delegation had some one-on-one time with Republican Sen. John Cornyn, and personally handed him a NAMIC Benjamin Franklin Award for his support of issues important to NAMIC and the property/casualty industry.

Cornyn sits on the powerful Judiciary Committee, where the McCarran-Ferguson antitrust exemption is under attack. He understands that McCarran-Ferguson fosters competition in the insurance industry and assured CCP participants he would continue to be a strong voice for open markets.

Direct questions to NAMIC's Communications Director – Federal Affairs Georgiann Howell.
