More States to Require SERFF

During the Sunday meeting of the Operational Efficiencies Working Group, the announcement was made that Minnesota, Rhode Island, and the District of Columbia intend to require filings through the NAIC’s System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing. However, an effective date for those filing requirements was not announced.

"NAMIC is hopeful that the jurisdictions preparing to launch mandatory filing through SERFF will give insurers adequate lead time in order to handle systems and training needs," said Marsha Harrison, NAMIC's regulatory affairs manager.

Other states that have recently opted for mandatory use of SERFF for filings include Alabama, Georgia (property/casualty filings), South Dakota, and Iowa.
