Under Gov. Mitch Daniels' leadership, Indiana has been trying to attract the insurance industry's attention to the Hoosier state for economic development purposes. Daniels got insurers attention for a different reason last Wednesday when he surprised them by vetoing HB 1274, a precedent-setting bill banning accident response fees. The bill also capped what could be charged for an accident report at $8, which prompted the governor's veto.
