NAMIC: McCarran-Ferguson Op-Ed Letter Sample Created for Member Use

NAMIC has created for its members a sample Op Ed piece explaining the McCarran-Ferguson Act, the antitrust exemption, and why it id in the best interests of consumers and insurers alike to preserve the competitiveness of the property/casualty marketplace.

The letter explains in layman’s terms how the Act and the exemption came into being and how it benefits consumers by enhancing competition. It also dispels many of the myths of the critics.

"One of the best ways for NAMIC to spread the word about the dire consequences that the repeal of McCarran-Ferguson will have on the industry and consumers is through the media," Marliss Browder, NAMIC’s senior director of federal affairs, said. "We have created this Op-Ed sample for members to use to distribute to their local media."
