McCarran-Ferguson Advocacy Kit Available

NAMIC has created an advocacy kit for members to assist in the fight to save the McCarran-Ferguson Act, which is being threatened by legislation introduced by Congress. Materials in the NAMIC advocacy kit include a sample letter, position paper, and fact/myth document to facilitate outreach activities.

“Since Senator Lott called me last July to say he would ‘bring down the industry,’ NAMIC has been developing a strategic plan that incorporates lobbying, member grassroots contact, issue analysis, coalition building, and media relations,” said Chuck Chamness, NAMIC president and CEO. “This advocacy has already been visible and effective in a variety of ways, but it is now time for you, the NAMIC member, to engage in the fight.”

The proposals, co-sponsored by Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., and Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., would threaten data sharing activities that have increased competition and provided significant benefits to America’s consumers.

Direct questions to NAMIC’s Senior Director of Federal Affairs Marliss Browder.
