INDIANAPOLIS (March 4, 2009) - Terry Suttner has joined the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) as director of membership and insurance services. He began in his new role this past December.
Suttner is no stranger to the insurance industry or to NAMIC. In his 25-year insurance industry career, he has held various positions in sales, management, and marketing. He most recently worked for American Partners Bank, a NAMIC affiliate company, where he served for three years as business development director.
“With the anticipated regulatory changes coming as a result of the financial crisis, it is important that we continue to strengthen our membership representation,” said Bart Anderson, senior vice president – member services for NAMIC. “Terry’s understanding of our association’s mission to represent the mutual insurance industry in federal and state affairs will be an immediate asset in his new position with us.”
Suttner has also worked for NAMIC member companies Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, as an agent and a state sales manager, respectively.
As director of membership and insurance services, Suttner will use his insurance expertise to help grow NAMIC’s member base, which currently stands at 1,400 companies. He will also work to develop new business for NAMIC Insurance Agency, the association’s in-house professional liability insurance agency.
Suttner said he is happy to be a part of the NAMIC family and was ready to hit the ground running. “I have known about the NAMIC organization throughout my career and have had a tremendous amount of respect for the work that it does representing its member companies,” he said. “During my time at the bank, I was able to observe the efforts and results much more closely and learned from the members just how much they appreciate what NAMIC has been able to accomplish on their behalf over the years.
“I am excited to work with our current members and develop new ones as well,” Suttner continued. “The NAMIC Insurance Agency has also been a success story. I am looking forward to continuing to develop the professional liability programs and agents’ E&O programs to serve our members and industry.”
