NAMIC Schedules Member Call to Discuss MIA Proposed Regulations to Slavery-Era Insurance

The Maryland Insurance Administration has issued proposed regulations to implement SB 751, which would require insurers to provide information related to slavery-era insurance, "policies issued to slave owners that provided coverage for damage to or death of slaves."

The measure applies to all companies writing in Maryland regardless of domicile, and will require disclosures to MIA in 2011.

NAMIC will hold a conference call on Wednesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. EDT to discuss the regulation and its impact on NAMIC companies before lending our comment to MIA by Aug. 7.

You can view the draft regulation online to determine the potential impact on your company. If you are not able to be on the call, please contact Erin Collins at ecollins@namic.org with your feedback.

Call-in information: (866) 809-4014, Pass code 8755264.

Direct questions to NAMIC State Affairs Manager Erin Collins.
