Iowa: Independent Research Confirms Bill to Expand Damages in Wrongful Death Cases Would Have Devastating Impact on State Finances

NAMIC’s state trade association advocacy partner, the Iowa Insurance Institute, reports that the Iowa Legislative Services Agency’s Fiscal Services Division is informing legislators that HF 758, which would allow “loss of enjoyment of life” or “hedonic” damages in wrongful death lawsuits, could cost the state more than $100 million.
