House Bill Introduced to Repeal McCarran-Ferguson Limited Antitrust Exemption for Health Insurers

On March 17, Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., introduced H.R. 1150, the Competitive Health Insurance Reform Act, which would repeal the limited antitrust exemption of the McCarran-Ferguson Act and give the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission the authority to enforce federal antitrust laws and regulations for health insurance companies.
