Illinois: Workers’ Comp Benefits Continue After Termination

The Supreme Court of Illinois issued an opinion on Jan. 22 holding that when an employee who is entitled to workers’ compensation benefits is later terminated for conduct unrelated to the injury, the obligation to pay temporary total disability benefits continues until the medical condition is stabilized and the employee has reached maximum medical improvement.
