Senate Negotiators Develop Enhanced Resolution Authority Proposal

As negotiations continue in the Senate on comprehensive financial services regulatory reform, it is expected that one aspect will be the creation of an enhanced resolution authority that would allow the federal government to wind down failing financial firms, which would include insurance companies. This is a significant change from House-passed legislation that specifically excludes insurers from its version of resolution authority.
