NAMIC Secures NFIP Extension, Came Close to Complete Program Overhaul Before Year End
Congress voted to extend the National Flood Insurance Program on Friday with the passage of H.R. 2055, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act,” known as the “mini-bus.” This bill extends the NFIP until May 31, 2012. While the bill passed both chambers of Congress on Friday, President Obama has yet to sign it into law. The president did, however, sign a Continuing Resolution extending the NFIP and all other federal programs running until Dec. 23.
