Later today, the House of Representatives is expected to pass a bill that would extend the National Flood Insurance Program for a full year. The bill, S. 3184, introduced by Sen. David Vitter, R-La., was passed Tuesday night by unanimous consent in the Senate before coming to the House. With pressure from NAMIC, others in the property/casualty insurance industry, and many involved in the housing market, we were able to secure a spot on the suspension calendar today for Vitter's extension. The suspension calendar is for uncontroversial pieces of legislation that will quickly pass by voice vote.
