Oppose Colorado SB 112, a Workers’ Compensation Bill That Will Needlessly Drive Up Workers’ Comp Insurance Costs For Employers, Require New Expenditure of State Resources to Implement Law

SB 112, Concerning Rate Setting for Workers’ Compensation Insurance, would fundamentally alter the established method for calculating an employer’s workers’ compensation premium rate (change from current law of “net” reporting to “gross” reporting); would abolish certain trade secret proprietary information protections (rate recommendations and supporting materials are to be made available to the public); and require the creation of a costly and unnecessary competitive bidding process (commissioner of insurance shall select a rating organization through a competitive bid process).
