Washington: In First Week of Session, Legislation Introduced Granting Commissioner Authority to Create Flood Insurance Joint Underwriting Association
The 2010 legislative session started yesterday with the introduction of a pre-filed bill, SB 6240, that would grant the commissioner of insurance the unfettered authority to establish a temporary excess flood insurance joint underwriting association. The bill will be heard tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. PST in the Senate Financial Institutions, Housing and Insurance Committee. A House companion JUA bill, HB 2560, is going to be up for hearing tomorrow at 6 p.m. PST in the House Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance.
