South Carolina: Glass Bill Compromise Reaches Stumbling Block

Several NAMIC members have expressed concern about South Carolina bills HB 4042 and SB 807, both of which would make it an unlawful trade practice for a motor vehicle glass business acting as a third-party administrator of insurance claims to “refer or steer … business to itself.” HB 4042 passed the House during 2011 and now awaits action in the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, where SB 807 also has been referred.
