Workers’ Comp System for Maritime Employees Needs Amending

For more than 80 years, maritime workers injured on navigable waters – injuries not covered by either the Jones Act or by state workers’ compensation laws – received compensation under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. It has been a program financed by employers and administered by the U.S. Dept. of Labor.
