Battle Over Federal Budget Continues
Last week Congress avoided a government shutdown by passing a “continuing resolution” that extended federal spending at current levels through the first week in April. This latest measure contained roughly $6 billion in spending cuts, continuing the goal of House Republicans to cut spending by about $2 billion per week as they extend funding. To date the fiscal year 2011 budget has been cut by approximately $10 billion dollars.
