Pennsylvania Tort Reform Passes Senate; Moves to House

SB 1131 was successfully amended on the Senate floor to adopt the language of SB 2, restoring the thrust of the tort reform measure and marking out SB 1131’s provisions that mitigated the intent of the SB2. NAMIC’s members and trade partners worked hard to ensure this victory, securing passage of the bill in the Senate 32-18 after the amendment passed by only a six-vote margin. As a result, the prime sponsor, Sen. Greenleaf, has withdrawn his sponsorship of the measure.
