House Bill Introduced to Repeal McCarran-Ferguson Protections for Health Insurers
On March 17, 2011, Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., introduced H.R. 1150, the Competitive Health Insurance Reform Act, which would repeal the McCarran-Ferguson Act for health insurance companies and give the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission the authority to enforce federal antitrust laws and regulations for health insurers.
