Legislation opposed by NAMIC that would increase repair costs and threaten the viability of direct repair programs by requiring insurers to have independent appraisals conducted for all collision repairs with estimates exceeding a certain amount was approved by the state Senate last week.
Similar legislation on the House side had not moved as of the end of last week, and industry advocates were keeping close tabs on its status in the waning days of the legislative session.
