Colorado: Amended Crash Tax Ban Legislation Dies in Senate Committee

HB 1059 died in the Senate Local Government Committee last week on a 4-1 vote. The bill would have prohibited local governments from imposing a fee or seeking reimbursement for costs incurred within the boundaries of urban municipalities by police officers, firefighters, and other first responders in connection with responding to a motor vehicle accident, with exceptions for certain costs for cleaning up hazardous materials and costs incurred in connection with providing ambulance service.
