The Mid-Atlantic region had several states without statewide elections, but for those in play, the Republican windfall across the country made its mark on our territory. States like Michigan, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania will all be under Republican control come January, giving life to the hope of industry-wide tort reform and a potential respite from anti-business attacks. Maryland seems lonely with a strong Democratic showing and will likely become the focus of an all-out battle from the trial attorneys as their battlegrounds waned on Nov. 2.
