Illinois: Workers’ Compensation Reform Encounters Setback in State Senate

NAMIC’s state trade advocacy partner, the Illinois Insurance Association, reports that SB 1349, as amended, a workers’ compensation reform bill, was defeated on the floor. The near-party-line vote was 25 senators in favor, six senators against, and 28 senators voting “present.” Legislation in Illinois must receive a majority of the chamber in order to pass. A vote of “present” is equivalent to a vote of “no.”
