FEMA Administrator Testifies on National Flood Insurance Program in Advance of Markup

FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate testified before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity last Friday on reform proposals for the National Flood Insurance Program. Originally slated to testify at the March 11 hearing, Fugate was unable to attend as he was responding to the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that rocked Japan the day before. Chairwoman Judy Biggert, R-Ill., called for a follow-up hearing to allow subcommittee members the opportunity to question the representative from FEMA.
