2010 FAC Issue Update - National Flood Insurance Program
Thus far in the 111th Congress, we have seen the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) temporarily extended on four separate occasions although no reforms of the program were attempted. Although lawmakers have stated their commitment to introduce reauthorization and reform legislation in the coming months, it is as yet unclear if they will be able to accomplish this in an election year. We do anticipate hearings on the NFIP and recent studies have stirred up controversy, which we hope will help the program receive the attention it deserves.
