Illinois: House Committee Takes Up Lawsuit Loans Bill
NAMIC’s state trade association advocacy partner, the Illinois Insurance Association, reports that last week the House Judiciary I – Civil Law Committee heard testimony on SB 3322, a bill sought by the litigation financing industry. Because of opposition to the bill, the committee was able to advance, on a party-line vote, only a “shell bill,” basically a bill title with no legislative language, so that discussions and lobbying could continue.
