NAMIC Submits Comments to FTC Urging Continued Strong Interpretation of Warranty Guidelines

The Federal Trade Commission published a notice in August seeking public comment on the agency’s interpretation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. NAMIC paired with the American Insurance Association and submitted a joint letter that urged the FTC to maintain its strong reading of the legislative prohibition on “tying arrangements” in warranties. Any weakening of those interpretations has the potential to impact the use of aftermarket parts for auto repair.
